What is SUCCESS?

What is SUCCESS?
There seems to be a common need to be successful.
The problem, as I see it, is that there seems to be a perception that you are only successful when you have lots of big shiny stuff and have a big important position. I don't believe that these things define success and I do not think that you should feel unsuccessful just because you haven't got them.
I think that you are being successful whenever you do whatever you are doing to the best of your ability.
You can be successful mowing the lawn. If your intent was to mow the lawn so that it looks neat and you have done that, then you are successful.
You can be successful at driving to work. If your intention was to get to work safely and you have done that, then you are successful.
You can be successful at whatever you do as long as you are meeting the intent of the activity.
You need to build a success platform from which to launch the rest of your life. Take time to acknowledge all the things that you are, and have been, successful at. This will build confidence in you for the rest of the journey.
If all you ever look at is where you went wrong, or what you haven't got, or how far you have yet to go, then it is very easy to become disillusioned and to feel like a failure. This is not the way to an empowered life. If you constantly compare yourself to others and see how they have more than you, it is easy to feel like a failure.
Rather than remembering everything that went wrong acknowledge all that went right.
Rather than complaining about what you haven't got appreciate and be grateful for what you have.
Rather than feeling overwhelmed by how far you have to go, acknowledge and take pride in how far you have come.
Rather than comparing yourself to others acknowledge your own achievements.
The feeling of being a success or a failure is just that, a feeling and you can control how you feel, and you must control how you feel or your feelings will control you.
So are you a success or a failure? Only you can decide।

Your life is a work in progress

Your life is a work in progress
When you accept that your life is constantly evolving and that every morning you have the opportunity to recreate yourself, to determine how you want to behave and what you want to achieve in terms of personal growth and development then you will truly understand the magic of life.
In order to truly capitalise on this “work in progress” philosophy there are three basic principles that we must keep in mind at all times.
Wisdom
You must have the wisdom to determine who you wish to be as a person, what character do you want to develop? What reputation do you want?
You must have the wisdom to understand that you can have just about anything you want if only you are prepared to do what it takes to get it.
You must have the wisdom to accept that you will not always get what you want.
You must have the wisdom to accept that you will not always want what you get.
You must have the wisdom to realise that if what you are doing is not working then you must stop doing it and try something else.
Intent
Take the time to discover what the intent behind your actions is. What ever we do we do for a reason, but often the reason we verbalise is not the real reason, that is the logical reason that we use to try to justify our actions. What you want to discover is the “emotional” reason. How will you feel after you have acted? What is the feeling that you really want? When you have discovered the emotional reason you will be able to determine if what you are doing will actually result in what you want.
Participation
Life is a “Do It to Yourself” process, it is a participator sport not a spectator sport. In order to become who you want to be and to achieve the goals that you have for your life you must take action. The first rule of success is “Take part” You have no chance of winning the race if you are not in the race.
Your life is a “Work in process” what do you want it to be like when it is finished.
Realise that the future is given to us as an endless set of possibilities, it is our responsibility to choose the future that we want and then to go to work to turn our dreams into reality.
May you choose a future that is worthy of you.
May you work to make your future a reality.
May you look upon your creation with pride.
With best wishes

If you want to be happy then live now!

If you want to be happy then live now!
So many of us chase after happiness only to find that like an elusive butterfly it is continuously just out of reach, always eluding our grasp, and we wonder why is it that we are denied this thing that we so desperately want.
We play the "I'll be happy when" game, or the "Life was better when" game. It seems to be human nature to put off living until either we reach some magical state in the future, or retrieve some condition from the past. There always seems to be something missing that stops us from enjoying where we are now.
When you play these games you are saying that "NOW" is not good enough and then you fail to experience the magic of NOW. NOW is all you have, out of it you make the memories that you cherish and create the future that you dream of. But you must live NOW. Your life happens to you one instant at a time. One experience at a time. Any happiness you want can only be experienced NOW.
But what is happiness? Happiness is a state of mind, it is a sense of being - of being one with your world and at peace with yourself. It is a sense of acceptance of the situation and circumstances you are in. To be happy you have got to get involved in life. Life is a participator sport not a spectator sport. Become absorbed in your task no matter how mundane it may seem.
Real joy comes not from what you have, or where you are, or where you are going, but from knowing that you are doing something worthwhile. If you watch a truly happy person you will find them absorbed in their work, be it writing a symphony or planting a garden. Happiness is like a kiss, to get any enjoyment out of it you have to share it with someone else.
I wish you the joy of truly experiencing every moment of your life. I wish you the joy of finding yourself and being content with that discovery. I wish you the joy of love in your life, love of yourself, love for others and the joy of being loved by others. I wish you a life of excessive happiness. And, I wish that you understand that if you want to be happy then live now.
Best Wishes

"How you receive adds value to life"

"How you receive adds value to life"
May the New Year brings new hopes, new promises and new reasons to celebrate your presence in your lives. Have a Joyous New Year………………. :)
It is better to give than to receive. I am sure that you have heard this many times. I am also sure that many of you believe this. If you do you have possibly caused much unhappiness in your life and in the lives of those who love you.
How often have you been given or offered something only to refuse it "I couldn't possibly take this" or to say "Oh you shouldn't have" What are you saying to the giver, that they have made a mistake, that they shouldn't like you.
You are complimented, on your dress "Oh this old rag, just grabbed the first thing I could find", on your looks, "Gee your hair looks great today" "Oh no." you say "It needs to be washed and it is far too long". What is the message that you send "Are you dumb or what, have you no sense of taste or style, how can you possibly like this"
How often have you been thanked for you contribution to a project and you say "Oh it was nothing" If it was nothing why did you do it? And have you noticed how upset you can become when these ungrateful people do not thank you for having done "nothing".
The problem is that we don't accept or like ourselves. We do not have a sense of our own worth therefore find it difficult to accept that anyone else can think that we are wonderful. In fact the way some people act you would think that there is some cosmic benefit in constantly putting yourself down.
All too often though it is merely a pretence at humility. Secretly you are thrilled. Don't you think it would be great to let the giver know how happy you really are.
Do you enjoy giving? Why of course I do. I am a giver not a taker. Do you get a sense of satisfaction from giving? Why of course I do. Would you say that you are a kind and generous person? Why of course I am, well, not all the time but I do try.
If this is true then why do you deny those giving you a gift, recognition, a compliment, the pleasure of giving? Why do you make them feel that their gift has no value to you? Why do you take from them their sense of joy?
If you truly want to be a "giver" then learn to accept graciously. You do not have to be effusive often a simple "thank you" or "I really appreciate that" or "I am glad you noticed" is all that is needed, but learn to accept graciously because "How you receive adds value to life"

With Best Regards......

Your life is in your hands.............

Your life is in your hands.
Your life is in your hands, even if it sometimes feels as if you are not in control, as if circumstances force you to do certain things and that you have no choice. You always have a choice and consciously or unconsciously you make choices based on what you think will be best for you under those specific circumstances.
Sometimes you do things that you don't like to do, because the consequences of not doing them are worse than actually doing them. You will normally choose the route that you feel will cause the least pain. Just like paying tax. Very few people enjoy paying tax but the consequences of evading the tax man are so bad that it is better to pay your tax. Actually, you should be grateful that you earn so much that you have to pay tax.
Sometimes the immediate consequences of our actions are so nice that we do not think of the long term consequences that will possibly not be so pleasant. Go to a party, enjoy a drink or six, it is great now, do you think of the headache that you will have tomorrow, and that is the least of the possible consequences, of course not. The food is so good, just one more bite, and, we can't let this go to waste now can we. Consequences, that really uncomfortable feeling when you have eaten too much, got to buy bigger clothes, your old clothes have shrunk by the bite. That food you could not let go to waste has gone to your waist.
What you must do is to consider carefully the choices that you make. What are the possible consequences of those choices, not only now but also long term. Can you live with them? Do you want them? Realise that the quality of your life depends on the consequences of your current actions. The life you lead today is the result of the consequences of your actions of yesterday. Your life is in your hands.
That reminds me of the story of the young man who wanted to trick the wise old man who lived in his town. He caught a bird and with it hidden in his hand behind his back he went to the old man and asked him. "Old man is this bird that I have in my hand alive or dead?" Should the old man answer alive, he would quickly squeeze the life out of the bird. Should the old man answer dead, he would let the bird fly away. But the wise old man is really wise and he answers. "Young man the life that you are holding in your hand is in your control, you decide."
From today, decide to take control of your life, the greatest and most precious gift that you have ever received or will ever receive. Decide to carefully consider the choices that you make and the things that you do, knowing that the quality of your life depends on the consequences of your current actions. Knowing that "Your life is in your hands."
With best wishes
